First post of the new year! We missed some meetings due to school activities and snow days, but we are back in session now and now more than ever we are standing up against bullying at McGuire Elementary. It is with great pleasure that we announce the names of new Bullying Club members. Joining the fold is, Kendra, Juliet, and Phoebe! Welcome. Today we worked on new posters for distribution across the school and discussed how to stop bullying.
Today we talked about bullying issues at McGuire, and worked on a new Bully Prevention Club flyer to hang in the halls. These flyers are meant to promote bullying awareness and to hopefully find new recruits for the team. The flyer is going to tell people when and where we meet, and it also contains a nice quote, which is, "When you bully someone, you are really bullying yourself." This couldn't be more from the truth, bullying is not something we want in our schools.
Lets work together to make bullying a thing of the past!!! -Bully Prevention Club Today, We fixed the bug in our blog, which was causing some posts not to show up. Tristyn stopped an episode of cyber bullying through the X-box. A couple of weeks ago, Julia saw a 6th grade boy trying to become friends with a different group. The group didn't want him to be their friend, and said he had a disease. They also pushed him. She stood up for the student, and a couple of other students joined her, and stood up for the student.
Today, we updated the website and made a new bullying bar graph, which we will add to the site next week. Earlier in the week, A.J. saw a classmate who possibly being bullied. He went over and talked to him and tried to help. It is important to be a upstander, and help others when they are down. A.J. has been trying recruit new members for the Bully Prevention Club, and today we actually had one. We are happy to say that Juliet is our newest member and we look forward to stopping bullying at McGuire together.
Today we updated the website, uploaded a bully prevention power point, and we updated the blog. Members have encouraged people to stand up to bullies. Tristyn saw some people getting bullied at a soccer game and stood up for what was right. All members encourage bystanders to become upstanders.
Members of the Bully Prevention Club want to put an end to bullying in Mount Pleasant Public Schools. We plan to show our power point at an upcoming school assembly. Bullying Fact of Week: 160,000 teens skip school each day because of bullying. |
